Product Certification

Original Technology has helped many clients navigate the complex, regulatory environment of the certification process. Product certification can cover many different aspects of a product’s design, and there are different types of regulatory agencies: safety certifications—available from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) or Canadian Standards Association (CSA)—and certifications that are designed to insure that a product doesn't emit RF interference that might interfere with the operation of other equipment—the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulations.

At Original Technology, we take certification and regulatory requirements into consideration before we begin the preliminary design process because we know that it is much less expensive to design a product with the requirements in mind than it is to modify an existing design to meet those requirements.   We also believe that certification testing needs to be accomplished early in the design process, preferably on the prototype assemblies, to avoid having to make major changes later on. Thinking ahead and avoiding pitfalls late in the design and production process is what we strive to do.

Although product certification may seem intimidating, it's just a matter of knowing which certifications are required and how to get the required testing done quickly and inexpensively.  At Original Technology we work with certified test labs, manage the testing process for you, and keep you informed every step of the way. If the regulatory agency does require changes, we will modify the product and retest it to insure compliance. Our focus is to complete the process quickly and inexpensively, while keeping design modifications to a minimum.

Our Mission is to provide innovative solutions and quality products to our clients, while  providing them with the tools necessary for their success.
